Usain Bolt sets world record in 200m Men final in World Championships

Usain Bolt not only set a new world record of 19.19 seconds in the men’s 200m Finals at the World Championship in Berlin, he obliterated the field which had American Wallace Spearmon who came third.

This just happened as JOCKlife.com was monitoring the race and the World Championships happening at the moment in Berlin, Germany.

Bolt was the obvious winner of the race before it happened. Even days before the race, everyone had chosen Bolt as the winner; they also said he could taste the gold medal even before the race.

Bolt started off and came out of the blocks fast. By the time he got to the turn, Bolt was way in front of the pack as he galloped with his 6ft 5 frame across the track to the amazement of the fans in attendance and millions watching worldwide.

The final did not have defending champion Tyson Gay running though; he was injured and would probably have been competition for Bolt. Then again who knows especially how Bolt comfortably won the 100m men’s final over the weekend.

Interestingly a year ago around this time, Bolt took the gold at the Beijing Games with a record of 19.30, now he has cut off 0.11 seconds off his record from last year.

Just like the Summer Olympics in China last year, Bolt dominated the field in Berlin. Now the Jamaican owns the Olympic record and World record in both the 100 meters and 200 meters for men. In China, he broke the Olympic records in the 100 meters and 200 meters. In Berlin he was expected to dominate his competitors and now has set records there too.

What an accomplishment.

Panamanian Alonso Edward was a distant second behind Bolt with 0.62 seconds between them and American Spearmon who was visibly disappointed, took the bronze medal.

JOCKlife.com is one of the few who had the opportunity to talk to Bolt last year after the Olympics and right before the IAAF awards and he was so gracious to give us exclusive coverage and he admittedly mentioned that the NBA is an inspiration to his career pointing to Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett, his friend, as a true warrior who gives inspires his dominance in track.
