Roy Williams says he is not T.O., but complains about lack of passes from Tony Romo

Though Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams says he is not Terrell Owens, he is unhappy with his quarterback Tony Romo, which resulted in his recent comment regarding limited passes thrown his way.

Williams, the Cowboys number one receiver, says he is not connecting with quarterback Romo. Has this script been seen before? Yes, when Owens was in town.

The major reason for his complaint, outside of the fact that Williams and Romo worked out together in the offseason, is that both have not made any progress in his opinion.

“It’s just not even close,” Williams said. “It’s not even funny. Not even close.”

Though some have mentioned his poor production as the reason why he is being treated like a second receiver on the team - in five starts, Williams has 14 receptions for 249 yards and two touchdowns - Williams was traded from the Detroit Lions to the Cowboys and in the offseason, Dallas released Owens.

So Williams should feel like he is the top receiver on the team; he has every right to believe that.

“I’m the No. 1 receiver,” Williams said. “But things are just going No. 2’s way.”

Though Miles Austin’s production this season has been remarkable; seven games, 26 receptions for 563 yards and six touchdowns, he is still not Williams even though he set an NFL record with 482 yards in his first three starts.

“He gets the ball thrown correctly his way,” Williams said of Austin. “I’m stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody [else] who’s been here’s balls are there.”

Though Williams sounds like he is complaining, he made sure to clarify that he is not Owens in any shape or form. He does not intend to divide the locker room especially with the team winning and a huge game on Sunday against divisional rivals the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I’m not a T.O.,” Williams said. “I’m not trying to be a T.O. I don’t know why people are trying to put me in that category.”

Obviously because Williams is complaining, critics are looking for comparison between him and Owens, but all Williams wants is a chance to prove to the Cowboys he can perform as a top level receiver.
