Josh McDaniels reveals no trades for Brandon Marshall as Denver Broncos monitor New York Jets tampering

The news that the Denver Broncos are thinking of shopping suspended wide receiver Brandon Marshall to a couple of teams is not true as the rumor was debunked by first-year head coach Josh McDaniels.

According to the Denver Post, McDaniels claims that there is no communications between the Broncos and any team in the NFL regarding Marshall.

“There is no discussions whatsoever taking place between Denver Broncos and any team in the National Football League regarding Brandon Marshall,” McDaniels said. “We're looking forward to having Brandon back on the 6th of September and starting our (season-opening) preparation with him.”

That’s interesting because that’s the same reaction McDaniels gave NFL Network a couple of months ago when asked if then quarterback Jay Cutler would be the team’s leading quarterback going into the NFL season.

Newsday reported that the New York Jets are mulling over a trade for the Pro Bowl receiver who was suspended last week for conduct detrimental to the team. Also the Broncos are reported to be keeping an eye on the Jets for potential tampering due to their public comments that they want Marshall.

Now remember during McDaniels’ first year as the New England Patriots offensive coordinator, wide out Deion Branch was unhappy with the money on his rookie final year contract with New England and he held out.

He was subsequently traded to the Seattle Seahawks.

In the case of Marshall, he wants out and this might affect what the Broncos can get for him in a potential trade with any team in the NFL and even the Jets as well, so long as they are interested.

At the moment, even if the Broncos claim they will not trade Marshall, they eventually will have to do something about this situation that might affect the team as a whole. Denver, sort of, doesn’t have a choice but to trade Marshall or suspend him for the season with pay.

This would not be the first time we’ve seen this happen. But at the same time, his trade prospects and what the Broncos can get in return is dropping fastest than the points on the stock market on a bad day.

Marshall, who wants out of Denver, caught 206 passes in the last two seasons. He was also selected to last season’s Pro Bowl.
