Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter is one player who seems to never back down from anything. In the past he had talked about the knocking the New Orleans Saints off their high horses, his hatred for the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. Now Porter is going after the Patriots biggest star; their quarterback Tom Brady
Porter claims that Brady has his own set of rules whenever he plays the game.
“No question,” said Porter. “When a guy can tell a ref when to throw a flag and he gets it and stuff like that, he got his own rules. They made the whole [rule that you] don’t go at the legs because of Tom. So when he feels that someone is coming at his legs, he just points at the ref and he gets a flag. So you’ve got to honestly say that he got his own rules.”
This Sunday Porter and his Dolphins visit the Patriots at Foxborough in a battle of divisional foes and no handshakes or dinner afterwards is expected.
In Porter’s interview with the NFL Network, he did not hide his feelings and displayed obviously he intended to go hard in New England. Porter wants Miami to retain the divisional crown they won last year. In his opinion, the Dolphins are still the champions until the Patriots currently sitting at the top of the AFC East wins the division.
Earlier this week, we had mentioned Porter’s disgust and “natural hate” for the Patriots as he also brought up the Spygate scandal of 2007.
“Never really too much cared for New England,” Porter said. “Still don’t care for New England. The hate's been there for a while, especially after all the cheating they did back in the day. I can honestly say I don’t agree with it, but it happened, and it’s over with now.”
But Porter is still talking about it. Maybe it’s his way of pushing his team mates to another upset victory on the road against New England; something they did just last season.
While talking with reporters, Porter could care less or engage in the trash talking and from the look of things, if anybody on this Miami team is mentally and physically ready for their game on Sunday, Porter is.
“I’m not falling for none of those little tricks,” he said. “I get mad when I want to get mad. So if that’s what this conversation is going to be about, about fishing, then you guys ought to come out here to Miami. We've got some good lakes to fish here.”
