Dallas Cowboys deny any interest in Adam 'Pacman' Jones, but the door is still open for a return to the NFLSubmitted by admin on June 8, 2009 - 2:09pm |
Despite initially leaving the door open on bringing back cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones quickly slammed that door in the media’s faces, saying in a statement that "I have no plans to bring Adam back."
In a report by the Fort-Worth Star Telegram, Jones asked a reporter, "Would you beat me up too bad if I brought back Adam?" From that, rumors began to brew about the possible return of ‘Pacman’ to the Cowboys this season.
The Cowboys released Pacman Jones in February. Jones was suspended for six games by the NFL after an alcohol-related scuffle in October with a team-provided bodyguard at a Dallas hotel.
So, with the Cowboys officially taking their name off the list of possible destinations for Jones, where will he be playing football next season?
Per Jones’ agent, Worrick Robinson, he has spoken to several NFL teams about adding Jones to their roster as well as the brand new United Football League that is starting to take shape for their inaugural season.
“We’ve been told to be patient and that’s what we’re doing. If something works out, I think it’ll be closer to training camp. It’s not surprising to know that [NFL teams] don’t want the discussions taking place in the media just because it creates a whirlwind atmosphere again. ”
Despite everything negative that has surrounded Jones off the field, there is no doubt that some NFL team will bring him into camp and give him another chance to perform at the level he played at early in his young career.
Even though the Cowboys have taken their name off the list of teams interested in acquiring Jones, there are still 31 other teams as possible destinations for the return of Adam Jones.
