After revealing his surprise that he or any one on his team did not make the pro bowl, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has been named to the Pro Bowl.
He will be an alternate player though.
The Bengals receiver was selected on Friday as an alternate on the AFC roster after it was quite obvious that New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker, who tore the MCL and ACL in his left knee, would not be able to participate in the event.
Welker was injured in the Patriots season finale against the Houston Texans when he planted wrongly on his left knee. No player was around to tackle him as he went down by himself.
To Ochocinco delight, he reacted to the surprising news by announcing his participation in a charity sprint. Maybe running against a horse is not enough the talented receiver who also is a great soccer player.
“Adam I am racing Chris Johnson, the loser is giving their pro bowl check over to those in need in Haiti," Ochocinco wrote on Twitter to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter.
This Pro Bowl will be Ochocinco’s sixth as he led the Bengals with 1,047 receiving yards, 72 receptions and nine touchdowns. Now the Bengals with 10 wins this season have a pro bowler and it could not be a better choice.
