Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis stops Chad Ochocinco from sending mustard to SteelersSubmitted by admin on November 12, 2009 - 3:36pm |
Unfortunately for Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, head coach Marvin Lewis is not as generous as he is so the Steelers will not be receiving mustard courtesy of Ochocinco.
This week Ochocinco tweeted that he would be sending the Steelers’ defense mustard at Heinz Field before they play on Sunday. This season Ochocinco has made a habit out of sending the opposing team gifts before the game that motivate him and poke fun at them.
"Unfortunately, I wasn't able to send anything this week, thanks to Marvin Lewis," Ochocinco said. "That's the way to spoil the fun, boss man. I guess I have to talk trash to motivate myself this week."
At 6-2, the Bengals are tied for first-place in the division and Sunday’s matchup will be critical in what the eventual outcome of the division will be. While Ochocinco looks at his gestures as simply fun and trash talk, the Steelers see it as a sign of respect since every other defense has received presents from him.
"He'd better send us something," safety Ryan Clark said Wednesday in Pittsburgh. "He sent something to the Ravens, so that shows he respects them. So he'd better send something to us. "I hope he does because I've got three kids to feed. That's one less trip to the grocery store I need to make," Clark said.
While there will be no mustard headed to the Steelers defense, Ochocinco still posted a sign in his locker claiming that it was “against NFL policy to try and cover him man to man and that he still is the most uncoverable receiver in the league.”
For now, as long as the Bengals continue to have success, nobody will mind whatever antics Ochocinco has in his plans fort other teams.
