Brett Favre heads back to Lambeau Field as a Viking to continue to build his legacy

The day that Brett Favre has been looking forward to since he left Green Bay is finally almost here. This weekend Favre will make his triumphant return to Lambeau Field as a Minnesota Viking to face his former team.

Lambeau Field is the place where Favre built his legacy as an elite NFL quarterback and now he will return there for the first time, not be honored, but instead to most likely be booed.

Despite the fan reaction when Favre takes the field on Sunday everyone watching, whether on television or at the stadium, knows that Favre is still one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game of football.

At age 40, Favre has still shown that he can play with the youngest most athletic players in the league. Favre has shown his ability to still be able to come through in the clutch and most importantly, Favre has shown that he can still win games.

This week, Favre has tried his hardest to make it seem like this game is only “one of 16”, but everyone knows that’s like saying the Super Bowl is just another game. Just like the Super Bowl is the Mecca of the football world, this game is Brett Favre’s regular season Super Bowl.

In my mind, Favre would love nothing more than to roll into Green Bay and stick it to Ted Thompson.

The writing has been on the wall for months and now Favre will finally get what he has been looking for since things went bad in Green Bay.

In Favre’s defense, he has every reason to want to go show the people of Green Bay that they made the biggest mistake in the history of the organization. Favre is a football legend and you have to let a legend leave on his own terms.

When your resume reads like Favre’s, you should be allowed to walk away, not be forced out. The Packers messed up big time and now they will have to watch as Favre continues to add to his legacy. Maybe if the fans are lucky enough, he will graciously give them one last Lambeau Leap.

Once Favre is able to get past this game against the Packers, it will be back to business as usual against their next opponent. Until then, Favre will not disappoint fans this weekend. Hate him or love him, you have to respect the legacy that is Brett Favre.
