Derrick Mason agrees to two-year deal with Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens continue to bolster their passing attack, this time re-signing two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Derrick Mason.

Mason and the Ravens agreed on a two-year deal that is reported to be worth $8 million, with $3.5 million coming in the first year. Mason originally joined the Ravens in 2005 and with this new deal, he is likely to finish his career in Baltimore.

NFL players lobby congress on the league’s potential lockout

NFL players have gone after the aid of congress to prevent the NFL owners from inflicting a lockout after next season. The players are hoping lawmakers in Washington D.C. can help overturn a possible victory in the Supreme Court antitrust case which would affect free agency amongst other things like ticket prices.

“We want Congress to know that management is pushing us toward a lockout,” said Tennessee Titans center Kevin Mawae who is also the union president and part of the 30 current and former players who were on Capitol Hill to discuss the issue.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco named as Pro Bowl alternate

After revealing his surprise that he or any one on his team did not make the pro bowl, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has been named to the Pro Bowl.

He will be an alternate player though.

The Bengals receiver was selected on Friday as an alternate on the AFC roster after it was quite obvious that New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker, who tore the MCL and ACL in his left knee, would not be able to participate in the event.

Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson deserves NFL’s offensive player of the year award

After such a phenomenal season, though he did not receive a single vote for the NFL MVP, Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has been named the NFL’s offensive player of the year.

His speed during the regular season was obviously blinding and his numbers as well demonstrated that he deserves the award. Considered the fastest player in the NFL, Johnson was not only fast, he was elusive as well.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu might not return this season

The Pittsburgh Steelers are quickly running out of games to turn their season around and they might also be without their most key player on defense, safety Troy Polamalu for the rest of the season.

Polamalu has been nursing a left knee injury that was initially listed as game-by-game, but it seems the knee is not healing fast enough for the perennial Pro Bowler to get back on the field and help his team on defense.

Though Polamalu hopes to still play this season, there are serious doubts and he also affirmed that there no date set for his return.

Matthew Stafford named NFL offensive player of the week

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was name the offensive player of the week in the NFL for his magnificent comeback performance in the Lions 38-37 home win over the Cleveland Browns.

It was a game between two teams that only had one win each so far this season, so nobody really cared to watch, but it turned out to be probably the best game of the week.

But on Sunday, Stafford who threw five touchdown passes was the key factor in the Lions turning the game around and making it arguably one of the most interesting games of this NFL season.

Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher says quarterback Vince Young is a different person

When the Tennessee Titans were 0-3 to start the NFL season, many pundits were shocked and asked head coach Jeff Fisher to make a quarterback switch from the older Kerry Collins to the franchise player Vince Young. The coach did not think it was necessary to push panic button for a team that made the postseason the year before.

Now Fisher says Young is a different person compared to the quarterback he benched last season with the team currently riding a three-game winning streak.

Terrell Owens back in practice and geared up to play against Tennessee Titans

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens went back to practice Friday after he sat out most of the week due to a hip injury. Owens also declared that he is ready and geared up to play against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Just yesterday, Bills coach Dick Jauron had mentioned that Owens was still struggling from the injury and was working with the training staff instead of practicing with the team.
