Michael Phelps finishes 2nd in 200m medley final, struggles in swimsuit

Michael Phelps is the face of swimming and whatever he does; win eight Olympic Gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Summer Games or hitting a bong during a college visit will always make news. So when Phelps finished second in the 200 meters medley final in Stockholm, Sweden at a short-course World Cup on Wednesday, everyone know it was big news.

Phelps clocked in at 1 minute 53.93 seconds, more than two seconds behind South African Darian Townsend who won in 1:51.79.

Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell set to race this weekend in Jamaica

Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell are two of the fastest human beings on the planet, but even with all that speed the two still will race again, but this time they will be trading in their foot speed for the speed of a car.

Bolt will race his new Nissan GT-R against Powell who will drive in a Mercedes Black Series CLK C63 AMG this weekend in Jamaica.

The race will be gentlemanly and hopefully neither of the two track stars will be injured in the friendly race.

Rio de Janeiro beats out Madrid to host 2016 Olympic Games

For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, South America will host the summer sports spectacular.


Rio de Janeiro was awarded the 2016 Olympics in dramatic fashion on Friday marking the first time the Games will take place on the continent.


Chicago and Tokyo were knocked out in the first two rounds of voting with Madrid and Rio de Janeiro left to battle in the final round of voting. The bustling Brazilian carnival city of beaches, mountains and samba beat surprise finalist Madrid, which got a big helping hand from a very influential friend.

Chicago, Tokyo eliminated in bid for 2016 Olympics

Despite an inspiring pitch from President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, Chicago was amongst the first cities eliminated in the bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games.

Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting despite being favored to be one of the two finalists in the bid for the Games.

In the second round Tokyo was eliminated leaving Rio de Janeiro and Madrid as the final candidates.

Olympic committee's treatment of Caster Semenya is unfair and invaded her privacy

Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas says he is back and better

Gilbert Arenas’ website shows two bobble heads speaking. One is the Washington Wizards point guard and the other is trainer Tim Grover.

The Washington Wizards star guard announces, “I’m back!” Grover says, “Gilbert’s knee healed up nicely thanks to my doctor skills and his hard work.”

After three surgeries in 1 ½ years, Arenas, who tore the lateral meniscus in his left knee near the end of the 2006-07 NBA season, finally went to train with Grover in July.

Usain Bolt the greatest track athlete ever

When Usain Bolt set the 100m record for men’s at the Summer Game in Beijing, China in August 2008, many did not anticipate he would do the same in the 200m sending Michael Johnson’s record to the archives.

Now after Berlin, at the World Athletics Championships last month, Bolt has done it again resetting both the 100m and 200m records in convincing fashion and also convincing time.

The point here is Bolt is not only the fastest man on earth, he is still undefeated compared to Michael Phelps who has already lost this year.

Usain Bolt not only set a new world record of 19.19 seconds in the men’s 200m Finals at the World Championship in Berlin, he obliterated the field which had American Wallace Spearmon who came third.

Michael Phelps uninjured after two-car accident in Baltimore

14-time gold medalist Michael Phelps was not injured in a car crash that took place on Thursday night. Baltimore police said that an unidentified woman was at fault for the crash involving the Olympic medalist.

Although Phelps was not injured, the unidentified woman was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the female driver ran a red light in her Honda Accord sedan and crashed in an intersection with Phelps' Cadillac Escalade SUV.

Usain Bolt’s greatest competition, Tyson Gay is injured but don’t count him out

The constant competition between American Tyson Gay and Jamaican Usain Bolt has created quite a buzz in the athletic world and the heated rivalry is showing no signs of cooling down.

“Rivalries are always good and I always look forward to competing against Tyson. It excites me to know there’s someone out there who is going to challenge me. It’s good for the sport.” Bolt said as reported on iaaf.org.
