For all UFC fans wanting to see heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar face-off against Shane Carwin to defend his title, you will have to wait a little longer to see it happen.

Lesnar has mononucleosis and won't be able to defend his title Jan. 2 at UFC 108, UFC president Dana White texted the Los Angeles Times. Originally scheduled for Nov. 21, the fight was first pushed back to January because of a Lesnar illness. Now because of Lesnar’s case of mono, the fight will be pushed back again. Lesnar is not able to train for six weeks, according to his text to the Times.

Fedor Emelianenko made it official on Monday as he signed a multi-fight agreement with Strikeforce, snubbing more lucrative offers from the Dana White and the UFC.

Mixed martial arts is slowing becoming a full-fledged sport with a strong fan following. But why? I suppose I’m in the minority that believes that MMA is not the coolest thing in the world and that the Octagon is not the alter that all sports should pray to.

Given the blurring success of the UFC and its heightened success of the UFC 100 last Saturday night, it may only be a matter of time when the title fights in the number one mixed martial arts association will be viewed for free on television.

On Saturday, July 11, one of the biggest mixed martial arts events in history will take place. UFC 100 will mark a milestone in the world of MMA, which has grown tremendously over the last nine years.

"I always knew it was just a matter of time, that once we got the eyeballs on our sport, it would become this," said Dan Henderson.

Shaq O’Neal as a basketball player is something that everyone knows, but Shaq as a mixed martial arts fighter is something that most aren’t aware of.
